From Fear to Dare: A Quiet Ending and a Bold Beginning
In February, I quietly closed another chapter of my professional life after 15 years.
I didn’t post about it then – partly because I needed space, and partly because I didn’t yet know what words would do the moment justice.
Looking back, I see that the transition wasn’t just about leaving a role. It was about stepping into a new way of being – one that had been quietly taking shape for years.
The Fear of Letting Go
People often ask me: What does it take to leave a permanent job contract with leadership responsibilities, a good salary and benefits, a dream team and international travel – to start a business from scratch?
For most, the fear of losing that security and comfort is enough to silence any growing desire to pursue something new.
That was true for me too, until a close family member asked me one simple question:
What do you lose by NOT changing?
That question flipped everything.
Instead of focusing on what I might lose by taking the leap, I began to see what I was already losing by staying:
- My authentic self
- Time I could never get back
- The impact I was meant to make
- A life aligned with my values
- The freedom to choose where, when, how, and with whom I work
Suddenly, the fear of change became smaller than the certainty of regret later on.
Life is short, sometimes, the biggest risk is not taking one at all.
The Sunrise of Purpose
For years, I had searched for my life’s purpose, in my 20s, 30s, and even 40s. Always searching, always questioning.
I thought purpose would arrive like a lightning bolt – loud and clear. But instead, it revealed itself slowly, like a sunrise – quietly bringing more light into view, moment by moment.
The most beautiful realization?
I was already transforming my own life, step by step, layer by layer, long before I realized my true gift was helping others do the same.
Every exit opens a new door. Every ending whispers an invitation to a new beginning – into a life we were perhaps meant to live all along.
From Fear to Dare
The leap I took wasn’t about reckless courage. It was about awareness. Awareness of what truly mattered, and of the cost of staying in a place that no longer aligned with my values.
That awareness became my compass, guiding me into coaching – a path where I now help others reconnect with their strengths, release what no longer serves them, and step forward with clarity, confidence, and equanimity.
Because moving from fear to dare isn’t just about changing careers.
It’s about transforming how we live.
So let me leave you with the same question that changed everything for me:
What would you lose by not taking that action you’ve been thinking about?
